You will need
JASC's PSP7 or 8 - Get it here Pencil Pocket Selections.
Unzip
the file and place in your PSP Selections Folder. If you do not have a Selections
Folder, make one now. Use for PSP 7 pocket.pspimage file Use for PSP8
PLEASE NOTE where instructions differ for
PSP8, these will be shown in blue
otherwise follow the regular instructions
To keep the loading time down, I have tried to keep the
screen captures to a minimum so when the same effect is used more than once, I have just
made a reference to it!
Remember to save your work often!!!
Step 1
Open a New Image 400x400 16 Million Colours Transparent
Open the
pocket.pspimage file. Shift D to duplicate and
then close the original
Set your foreground to colour #AA2926
Go to Layers/New Raster Layer and name it "Back"
Go to Selections/Load from Disc and choose "hh01back.sel" Click on the Back
Layer Go to Selections/Load Save Selection/Load Selection
from Alpha Channel. Use the drop down arrow and select hh01back
Floodfill
Go to Effects/Noise/Add 5% uniform
Go to Selections/Invert
Go to Effects/3D Effects/Drop Shadow and apply these settings:

Step 2
Go to Layers/New Raster Layer and name it "Front"
Go to Selections/Load from Disc and choose "hh02front.sel" Click on the Front
Layer Go to Selections/Load Save Selection/Load Selection
from Alpha Channel. Use the drop down arrow and select hh02front
Floodfill
Go to Effects/Noise/Add 5% uniform
Go to Effects/3D Effects/Drop Shadow and apply the same settings as
in Step 1 but change the Vertical to -6
Deselect
Go to Selections/Load from Disc and choose "hh03pocketpencils
Go to Selections/Load Save Selection/Load Selection
from Alpha Channel. Use the drop down arrow and select hh03pocketpencils
Go to Selections/Invert and hit delete. This will get rid of the
excess shadow.
Step 3 Set your foreground colour to #CE8439
Go to Layers/New Raster Layer and name it "Stitching"
Go to Selections/Load from Disc and choose "hh04stitching.sel" Click on the Stitching
Layer Go to Selections/Load Save Selection/Load Selection
from Alpha Channel. Use the drop down arrow and select hh04stitching
Floodfill
Deselect
Step 4
Set your foreground colour to #808080
Go to Layers/New Raster Layer and name it "Hole"
Go to Selections/Load from Disc and choose "hh05hole.sel" Click on the Hole
Layer Go to Selections/Load Save Selection/Load Selection
from Alpha Channel. Use the drop down arrow and select hh05hole

Step5 Go to your Layer Palette and highlight the "Back" Layer Set your foreground colour to #CE8439
Go to Layers/New Raster Layer and name it "Pencils"
Go to Selections/Load from Disc and choose "hh06pencils" Click on the Pencils
Layer Go to Selections/Load Save Selection/Load Selection
from Alpha Channel. Use the drop down arrow and select hh06pencils
Floodfill
Go to Effects/3D Effects/Inner Bevel and apply these settings:

Go to Effects/3D Effects/Drop Shadow and apply these settings:

Set your foreground colour to #B59C84
Go to Layers/New Raster Layer and name it "Pencil Tops"
Go to Selections/Load from Disc and choose "hh07penciltops.sel" Click on the Pencil Tops
Layer Go to Selections/Load Save Selection/Load Selection
from Alpha Channel. Use the drop down arrow and select hh07penciltops
Floodfill
Go to Effects/3D Effects/Inner Bevel and apply the same settings as in
Step 5
Deselect
Go to your Layer Palette and move this layer under the "Pencils" Layer
Step 7
Set your foreground colour to #5A4A39
Go to Layers/New Raster Layer and
name it "Pencil Leads"
Go to Selections/Load from Disc and choose "hh08pencilleads.sel" Click on the Pencil Leads
Layer Go to Selections/Load Save Selection/Load Selection
from Alpha Channel. Use the drop down arrow and select hh08pencilleads
Floodfill
Deselect
Go to your Layer Palette and hide all but the pencil layers
Go to Layers/Merge/Merge Visible. No need to rename this layer yet
