To make the different versions
go to the bottom of the page and
click on the one you would like to make!
If you have already made the Grandpa then skip
Steps 1 through 16

 

You will need
JASC's PSP7 and 8 - Get it here
Eye Candy 4 - Get your trial version here
Selections.  Unzip the file and place in your PSP Selections Folder.  If you do not have a Selections Folder, make one now. Use for PSP 7
grandpaxmas.pspimage file Use for PSP 8
Accessories.  Unzip to a folder of your choice. 

PLEASE NOTE where instructions differ for PSP8, these will be shown in blue
otherwise follow the regular instructions

Step 1
Open a New Image 400x400 16 Million Colours Transparent
Open the grandpaxmas.pspimage file. Shift D to duplicate and then close the original
Set your foreground colour to #000000
Go to Layers/New Raster Layer and name it "Wire"
Go to Selections/Load from Disc and choose "01wire.sel"
Click on the Wire Layer
Go to Selections/Load Save Selection/Load Selection from Alpha Channel. Use the drop down arrow and select 01wire

Floodfill
Go to Effects/3D Effects/Inner Bevel and apply the Metallic Preset provided with PSP
Deselect

Step 2
Change your foreground colour to #FFE3B7
Go to Layers/New Raster Layer and name it "Plaque"
Go to Selections/Load from Disc and choose "02plaque.sel"
Click on the Plaque Layer
Go to Selections/Load Save Selection/Load Selection from Alpha Channel. Use the drop down arrow and select 02plaque

Floodfill
Go to Selections/Float
Go to Effects/3D Effects/Cutout and apply these settings:

Reapply the Cut Out changing the vertical and horizontal to -2
Deselect

Step 3
Change your foreground colour to #000000
Go to Layers/New Raster Layer and name it "Plaque Detail"
Go to Selections/Load from Disc and choose "03plaquedetail.sel"
Click on the Plaque Detail Layer
Go to Selections/Load Save Selection/Load Selection from Alpha Channel. Use the drop down arrow and select 03plaquedetail

Deselect

Step 4
Change your foreground colour to #FFE3B7
Go to Layers/New Raster Layer and name it "Head"
Go to Selections/Load from Disc and choose "04head.sel"
Click on the Head Layer
Go to Selections/Load Save Selection/Load Selection from Alpha Channel. Use the drop down arrow and select 04head

Floodfill
Go to Selections/Float
Go to Effects/3D Effects/Cut Out and apply the same settings as in Step 2
Reapply the Cut Out changing the vertical and horizontal to -2
Deselect

Step 5
Change your foreground to #FFFFFF
Go to Layers/New Raster Layer and name it "Eye1"
Go to Selections/Load from Disc and choose "05eye1.sel"
Click on the Eye 1 Layer
Go to Selections/Load Save Selection/Load Selection from Alpha Channel. Use the drop down arrow and select 05eye1

Floodfill
Go to Effects/3D Effects/Drop Shadow and apply these settings:

Deselect

Step 6
Change your foreground colour to #0000C0
Go to Layers/New Raster Layer and name it "Eye2"
Go to Selections/Load from Disc and choose "06eye2.sel"
Click on the Eye 2 Layer
Go to Selections/Load Save Selection/Load Selection from Alpha Channel. Use the drop down arrow and select 06eye2
Floodfill
Deselect
In your Layer Palette lower the opacity to 50

Step 7
Change your foreground colour to #000000
Go to Layers/New Raster Layer and name it "Eye3"
Go to Selections/Load from Disc and choose "07eye3.sel"
Click on the Eye 3 Layer
Go to Selections/Load Save Selection/Load Selection from Alpha Channel. Use the drop down arrow and select 07eye3

Floodfill
Go to Effects/3D Effects/Inner Bevel and apply the Round Preset provided with PSP
Deselect
Go to Effects/Blur/Gaussian Blur and apply a Radius of 0.75
Go to your Layer Palette and hide all but the "Eye" layers
Go to Layers/Merge/Merge Visible and rename this layer "Eyes"
PSP 8 ignore the merge instruction

Step 08
Change your foreground colour to #FFE3B7
Go to Layers/New Raster Layer and name it "Nose"
Go to Selections/Load from Disc and choose "08nose.sel"
Click on the Nose Layer
Go to Selections/Load Save Selection/Load Selection from Alpha Channel. Use the drop down arrow and select 08nose

Floodfill
Deselect
Go to Effects/3D Effects/Inner Bevel and apply these settings:

Go to Effects/3D Effects/Drop Shadow and apply the same settings 
as in Step 5 changing the Vertical to 2 and the Horizontal to 0 and the 
Opacity to 31

Step 09
Change your foreground colour to #FF0000
Go to Layers/New Raster Layer and name it "Mouth"
Go to Selections/Load from Disc and choose "09mouth.sel"
Click on the Mouth Layer
Go to Selections/Load Save Selection/Load Selection from Alpha Channel. Use the drop down arrow and select 09mouth

Deselect
Go to Effects/3D Effects/Inner Bevel and apply the same settings 
as in Step 08
Go to Effects/3D Effects/Drop Shadow and apply the same settings 
as in Step 05  - the values will still be there
In your Layer Palette lower the opacity to 62

Step 10
Change your foreground colour to #F28A8A
Go to Layers/New Raster Layer and name it "Cheeks"
Go to Selections/Load from Disc and choose "10cheeks.sel"
Click on the Cheeks Layer
Go to Selections/Load Save Selection/Load Selection from Alpha Channel. Use the drop down arrow and select 10cheeks

Deselect

Step 11
Change your foreground colour to #8B5F16
Go to Layers/New Raster Layer and name it "Ear Detail"
Go to Selections/Load from Disc and choose "11eardetail.sel"
Click on the Ear Detail Layer
Go to Selections/Load Save Selection/Load Selection from Alpha Channel. Use the drop down arrow and select 11eardetail

Step 12
Change your foreground colour to #FFFFFF
Go to Layers/New Raster Layer and name it "Hair Man"
Go to Selections/Load from Disc and choose "12hairman.sel"
Click on the Hair Man Layer
Go to Selections/Load Save Selection/Load Selection from Alpha Channel. Use the drop down arrow and select 12hairman

Select your Eye Candy 4 Jiggle and apply these settings:

Go to Layers/New Raster Layer and name it "Eyebrows"
Go to Selections/Load from Disc and choose "13eyebrows.sel"
Click on the Eyebrows Layer
Go to Selections/Load Save Selection/Load Selection from Alpha Channel. Use the drop down arrow and select 13eyebrows

Select your Eye Candy 4 Jiggle and apply the same settings as
in Step 12  - the values will still be there

Step 14
Go to Layers/New Raster Layer and name it "Moustache"
Go to Selections/Load from Disc and choose "14moustache.sel"
Click on the Moustache Layer
Go to Selections/Load Save Selection/Load Selection from Alpha Channel. Use the drop down arrow and select 14moustache

Select your Eye Candy 4 Jiggle and apply the same settings as
in Step 12  - the values will still be there

Step 15
Open the glasses image that you downloaded to a folder of your choice
Go to Edit/Copy
Go to Layers/New Raster Layer and name it "Glasses"
Go to Selections/Load from Disc and choose "15glasses.sel"
Click on the Glasses Layer
Go to Selections/Load Save Selection/Load Selection from Alpha Channel. Use the drop down arrow and select 15glasses

Go to Edit/Paste/Into Selection
Deselect

Step 16
Open the bowtie image that you downloaded to a folder of your choice
Go to Edit/Copy
Go to your Layer Palette and highlight the "Plaque Detail" layer
Go to Layers/New Raster Layer and name it "Bow Tie"
Go to Selections/Load from Disc and choose "16bowtie.sel"
Click on the Bow Tie Layer
Go to Selections/Load Save Selection/Load Selection from Alpha Channel. Use the drop down arrow and select 16bowtie

Go to Edit/Paste/Into Selection
Deselect
Go to Effects/3D Effects/Drop Shadow and apply the same settings 
as in Step 05  - the values will still be there

Step 17
Go to your Layer Palette and highlight the "Glasses" Layer
Change your foreground colour to #B30000
Go to Layers/New Raster Layer and name it "Hat"
Go to Selections/Load from Disc and choose "17hat.sel"
Click on the Hat Layer
Go to Selections/Load Save Selection/Load Selection from Alpha Channel. Use the drop down arrow and select 17hat

Floodfill
Go to Effects/3D Effects/Inner Bevel and apply the same settings
as in Step 8 - the values will still be there
Deselect
Go to Effects/Noise/Add 10% Uniform

Step 18
Change your foreground colour to #FFFFFF
Go to Layers/New Raster Layer and name it "Hat Bobble"
Go to Selections/Load from Disc and choose "18hatbobble.sel"
Click on the Hat Bobble Layer
Go to Selections/Load Save Selection/Load Selection from Alpha Channel. Use the drop down arrow and select 18hatbobble

Deselect
Select your Eye Candy 4 Jiggle and apply these settings:

Go to Selections/Select All/Selections/Float/Selections/Invert 
Go to Effects/3D Effects/Drop Shadow and apply these settings:

Deselect
Go to Effects/Noise/Add 10% Uniform

Step 19
Go to Layers/New Raster Layer and name it "Hat Fur"
Go to Selections/Load from Disc and choose "19hatfur.sel"
Click on the Hat Fur Layer
Go to Selections/Load Save Selection/Load Selection from Alpha Channel. Use the drop down arrow and select 19hatfur

Floodfill
Deselect
Select your Eye Candy 4 Jiggle and apply the same settings as in
Step 18
- values will still be there
Go to Selections/Select All/Selections/Float/Selections/Invert 
Go to Effects/3D Effects/Drop Shadow and apply the same settings as
in Step 18 changing the Horizontal to -3
Deselect
Go to Effects/Noise/Add 10% Uniform

Step 19
Change your foreground colour to #025002
Go to Layers/New Raster Layer and name it "Wording"
Go to Selections/Load from Disc and choose "20wording1.sel"
Click on the Wording Layer
Go to Selections/Load Save Selection/Load Selection from Alpha Channel. Use the drop down arrow and select 20wording1

Floodfill
Change your foreground colour to #B30000
On the same layer go to Selections/Load from Disc and choose
"21wording2.sel"
Go to Selections/Load Save Selection/Load Selection from Alpha Channel. Use the drop down arrow and select 21wording2

Deselect
Go to Effects/3D Effects/Drop Shadow and apply these settings:

Step 20
Open the plaquedecor image that you downloaded to a folder of your choice
Go to Edit/Copy
Go to Layers/New Raster Layer and name it "Plaque Decor"
Go to Selections/Load from Disc and choose "22plaquedecor.sel"
Click on the Plaque Decor Layer
Go to Selections/Load Save Selection/Load Selection from Alpha Channel. Use the drop down arrow and select 22plaquedecor

Go to Edit/Paste/Into Selection
Deselect
Go to Effects/3D Effects/Drop Shadow and apply the same settings
as as in Step 19

When everything is how you want it to be go to Layers/Merge/Merge Visible.
Save as a tube or psp image for later use. 

 

To make the different versions click on the one you would like to make!
